So this didn’t happen while you were all sleeping in, BUT it was really fun so I thought I would blog about it. I’ve been looking into different running clubs in the Burbank/North Hollywood area and I found that the local Fleet Feet in Burbank is fairly new and they are developing some great running community activities. I’m actually planning on doing their training program for the half marathon but that doesn’t start until July.

Every Wednesday, Fleet Feet Burbank hosts a Pub Run. Basically, you start a 3 or 4 mile run at the store and end up at a bar not far from the starting point for drink specials and it’s a great way to meet some local running friends! I got out of work a little too late to join the start at the store but still went for a run. By the way… IT WAS SO HOT LAST NIGHT. We’re having a major heat wave here in LA. It’s even over 100 at the coast which is really unusual. Burbank is in the valley and it can easily be over 100 for a few days straight. But when it gets this hot at the beach, its really unusual. On top of it being so hot, the air is so DRY. The extreme heat, combines with the Santa Ana winds, combined with the very dry air is the perfect ingredient for wild fires. There have been various fires down in San Diego and Mission Hills but thankfully not too close to home.

The dry air, the heat…. it was a very warm run I might say. I almost didn’t go out but I thought that I should because this is what running in the summer is going to be like here. I wound up back at Tinhorn Flats about a block away from my house and decided to go in a start introducing myself. What have I got to lose? And it was so much fun. I met some really awesome runners from the Burbank area and we ended up getting a couple drinks and talking about what we all do.

I won’t ramble on but all in all, I was pleasantly surprised at how much fun it was. It was a great group of people who all love to run and drink beer. Needless to say, I’ll be going back next week!

Today’s advice:  Drink lots of water.
